Getting there

Since Gijón does not have an airport you will have to book a flight either to Bilbao, Asturias(OVD) or
Santander. From there you can take the bus or train to the Summer Network Meeting 2018. We
suggest to look up your bus / train connections either on the ALSA website (in several languages) or
on goeuro.com (including train connections).

Aeropuerto de Asturias / OVD

The only airport in the region of Asturias is based in Avilés. It is the closest airport to Gijón, so you
might try this option first. 8 airlines are flying to Asturias, amongst them low cost carriers like
Volotea, Easyjet and Vueling. Spanish transport company ALSA is providing a direct bus connection
between Asturias Airport and the city of Gijón which will take about 45 minutes and cost 8 EUR. The
same price applies for a 31 minutes train ride from the city centre – just in case you plan to go there
before or after the Summer Network Meeting.

Aeropuerto de Santander

Your second option is to fly to Santander which is between Gijón and Bilbao, your third option.
Santander is connected to 10 airports across Europe. The airlines providing services are Air Nostrum,
Iberia, Ryanair, Volotea, Vueling and Wizzair. Direct bus connections from the airport to your
Summer Network Meeting destination Gijón can be booked from (roughly) 15 EUR (3.40 hrs ride) up
to (roughly) 32 EUR (2.40 hrs).

Aeropuerto de Bilbao

Bilbao is the biggest airport in the north of Spain and therefore connected to a wide range of
European destinations. 22 airlines, including low cost carriers like Vueling and Easyjet fly to Bilbao.
From Bilbao you can take the bus directly from the Airport to Gijón. Ticket fares start from (roughly)
20 EUR for the longer journey (up to 6 hrs) and exceed to (roughly) 45 EUR for the faster connection
(4.20 hrs).

Aeropuerto de Madrid

Madrid is the main airport in Spain and you can travel directly in bus from to/from Gijon. It´s a six hours trip with ticket fares between (roughly) 36 EUR and (roughly) 60 EUR

We suggest to look up your bus / train connections either on the ALSA website (in several languages)
or on goeuro.com (including train connections).
